Ideas for final product.

I liked this magazine cover as the artist is made to look tall and dominant, as he's standing as tall as the bulding this is an idea I incorporated into my own magazine(double page spread) with my artist standing on top of a building.

Front Cover Image

This is the image I chose to be on the front cover. I chose this picture as it shows the artist wearing a black jumper with a white top which fits into the colour scheme I used  on the magazine, which was gold, black, white. Also the jumper worn by the artist is produced by perfomance and fashion brand Adidas which is hugely popular among teens and young adults who are the main target audience. I hoped this would attract them to the magazine. Also in the image the artist is seen directly looking at the camera which is a convention used by real life media products as the eye contact between audience and artist makes their relationship feel more personal.

Front Cover Research

When I carrying out research to get some ideas on how I wanted my front cover to look like. This was my favourite front cover I stumbled across, I was especially impressed by the writing in the back ground which was faded to allow maximum focus to be on the artist. This example was from Hip-hop magazine XXL.

Planning my magazine

The step in planning my magazine was searching on Google, "rap magazine" to get an idea of what current real life magazines look like. What I gathered from the proffesional magazines I found was that frover covers were dominated by black males with hardly no represenation of women or any other races.

Music Questionnaire

I conducted a survey almong my fellow students to find out what people's thoughts on what price I my media product should be, What genre would they prefer to buy, whether being male or female would make a diferrence in buying the magazine or not and any other general ideas they had to contribute.

Preliminary Task

This is the final draft of my preliminary task. The improvements I made from my draft were that I changed the colour coordination to make the magazine have one uniform colour and to look more professional. I also added white squares and bubbles behind the text to make sure it was clear and stood out so could be read easily as opposed to my draft were it was quite difficult to make out what the text said. I tried to make sure I got the balance of pictures and text right so I did not have too much of either.

Preliminary Task Contents Page

I chose this picture to be on the front of my magazine as I thought it showed the perfect balance between school work represented by the books on the desk and the computer screen but also it had the social aspect included aswell as the student has his earphones in listening to music.

Draft Front Cover School Magazine

This is my draft copy of my school magaazine for the preliminary task. I used photoshop in order to learn the basics of how to use it in preparation for my final copy. From this experience I realised I would benefit from planning ahead and if possible to sketch a brief copy of what I wish to produce so I can avoid leaving a lot of blank and bare space and also not too be too cramped.
Also through market research I learnt that people always look on the left hand side of the page first so I have put my text bubbles in order or importantance from left to right across the page.
